El Instituto orientará su capacidad de investigación al servicio de los grupos étnicos y demás pobladores de la región; a la identificación de opciones para el mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida de la población, surgidas de la oferta natural de la región y a servir como foro de debate y discusión alrededor de los temas del territorio, el desarrollo, la cultura y el conocimiento.

El Instituto de Investigaciones Ambientales del Pacífico, considera que en la actualidad la región debe responder a grandes desafíos:

- Conservación de la Diversidad Biológica y Cultural
- Seguridad Alimentaría
- Ordenamiento Territorial
- Fortalecimiento Institucional (SINA)

Vision

The vision of the institute will be oriented to research capacity in the service of the ethnic groups and other inhabitants of the region; to identifying options to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants resulting from natural supplies of the region and to serve as a forum discussion and debate about land issues, development, biodiversity culture and traditional knowledge.

The Institute considers that the region should respond to major challenges in the actuality as:

• Conservation of biological and cultural diversity
• Food safety
• Land Planning
• Institutional strengthening (SINA)
